Disney+ and HBO Max: Seasonal Specials and New Dramas

Disney+ is adding some festive cheer with the premiere of Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol, a 22-minute Christmas special featuring the adventures of North Pole elves. Meanwhile, Freakier Friday, starring Lindsay Lohan, brings a humorous twist to the classic body-swap story.

On HBO Max, Heated Rivalry premieres this Friday, a series based on Rachel Reid’s novel about a clandestine romance between two hockey players. The first two episodes will be available this week, with the remaining four releasing weekly until December 26. Additionally, Ari Aster’s new film Eddington, set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, is available for streaming.

Criterion Channel and Prime Video: Unique Storytelling from Esteemed Creators

The Criterion Channel introduces Blossoms Shanghai, a 30-episode series directed by Wong Kar Wai, based on the award-winning novel by Jin Yucheng. Set in early 1990s Shanghai, it follows protagonist Hu Ge, often described as the "Jay Gatsby of Shanghai." Fans can expect three new episodes every Monday.

Prime Video presents Playdate, further expanding its diverse lineup with engaging new content.

Peacock and More: Continuing Series and Film Tributes

Fans of action and crime thrillers can catch Nobody 2 on Peacock, a sequel that promises to deliver intense sequences and gripping narratives. In a nod to classic cinema, Netflix offers Nouvelle Vague, directed by Richard Linklater. This tribute to French New Wave cinema is set in 1959 Paris, featuring Guillaume Marbeck as Jean-Luc Godard, Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, and Adrien Rouyard as François Truffaut.
